Quick Update and a Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to J who is 8 today (28/06/05). We have been Daleked to death culminating in a visit to the Dr Who exhibition on the Pier today. Posted pictures below - a bit costly but worth it for the pleasure it gave J on his special day.

Also posted is a piccie of my lastest SP goodies from SP4 - the packet of lush tea is missing as it's downstairs and it's too hot to go and get it. The yarn is a deep grape colour and the bead colours compliment it perfectly. Thank you so much Katie for a wondeful gift.

Thank you SP (Katie Lee) - you rock!!!!! Posted by Hello

We've been to the zoo, zoo, zoo

how about you, you, you?

Chester Zoo is amazing. We had a great time. Piccies below.

The journey up was hot and long (someone eradicate the M25!!!) the hotel was bliss, beautiful room, great pool, sauna, steam room, hydro pool - bliss. The food was out of this world.

We walked for 5 hours around the zoo and still didn't see it all. Will have to go back to finish it - shame ;0)

I was astounded by the free flying bats - we get them at home but these were whizzing by so close you felt the movment of them in you hair.

The Jaguar enclosure is huge and provides them with all types of their natural habitat - it was like nothing we've seen before.

And the Komodo Dragons - WOW!!

The journey home was wet, humid and long (70mins in a jam on the M25 (suprise, suprise).

p.s excuse the headgear in the photo - I didn't take a hat, it was pissing down so I nicked M's heady - very glam.......'cross my palm with silver dearie................'

A quiet week

It really has been as well. It didn't help that after my knee finally healed that I woke up Tuesday with a niggling back pain - decided (like a loon) to ignore it and clean out the conservatory, come Wednesday morning - serious back pain, hardly able to move. So Wed was spent on painkillers, with a heat mat and lots of rest. Thursday - J had a friend to play most of the day and I ended up spending a lot of time on my feet - so by the end of the day my back was killing me. Friday I tried to rest it but stuff needed my attention - so today I am attempting to rest and not rely on painkillers. I am getting fed up though - it's been weeks - no salsa, no yoga, can't even walk the dog - so perhaps a rest this weekend will solve it and next week I can resume living! (Sorry to whine I'm sure others suffer much more - but this is my blog and I have to bleat off somewhere.)

It's hot and sunny today - maybe even too hot (I'm a winter lover) - so I might just chill out, knit, read listen to music and let M nurse me (he's a great nurse).

J has had a good week - a Knitty friend sent him a box of books - he's in heaven - he's not started reading them but the anticipation of so many new books - you can just see it. I reckon he'll have problems deciding what to read first. Together we are reading 'The Indian in the Cupboard' - such an exciting book for a boy and educational as well. On his own he is re-reading 'The Land of Green Ginger' - I just get such a buzz from his love of books :0)

What else? Well I could rant about snails - but what can I say? Nothing works for long - they have missed the beer traps, circumnavigated the pellets and eaten 75% of my broccoli and cabbage crop. Someone tell me what good they do? I hate killing things - I have friends who collect them and free them elsewhere (anyone else hear that cuckoo?) I think snails have homing devices. Ma treads on them and sprinkles salt on them - ehew. I thought maybe a meeting and a leaflet campaign might get through to their reasonable side - maybe not? *shrug* oh well snails need to eat too.

In other news - we go away this week for a couple of days. Grandma (Ma) is animal sitting - better feed the spiders before we go as she draws the line at that. Next week my baby is 8 - where has the time gone? He's a long skinny Dr Who-aholic - who even knows how many nobbles a dalek should have - scary.

That's it - dull and boring as it is - sorry - well off to rest my back (again).

This shows of the amazing colours of Boris as he settles into his new home. Posted by Hello

Here is a more recent Fifi snap - she is one big mother. Posted by Hello

Boris has a new home. A little spider bijou residence with his own fossil and water dish. The location is premium real estate on top of the hall bookcase. Posted by Hello

Here are my new socks - Opal Rodeo. I just can't be asked to match the pattern - anyway I like odd socks! Posted by Hello

A semi grouchy update

Lets get the rant bit over and done with. I hate people who let you down. If I say I will do something or be somewhere then 9/10 I manage it and if I can't I let people know and apologize. I get very pissed off when people do not repay this courtesy. I sometimes think I must have the word "MUG!" tattooed on my forehead. It gets to the stage where I either tell the people concerned to fuck off and bother some other sap or I retreat and blank out the world - this time it's the latter, which in a way is worse because it means I just stop caring about others for a while. Ok done.

Other bobs and bits. We are caterpillar sitting for some friends - the little beasties are pupating - it's most strange but fascinating.

Boris is in his new home - webb-less at the mo - but hopefully he'll spin soon - I will try and post pictures of his new tank.

Snuffles (is still named snuffles) and took his first dump on me today, the cat puked all up the hall and then I trod in dog shit - does it get much better?

The swelling on my knee is finally going down - it still hurts and now the other one has started -and yes I know I should go to the Dr's but I haven't been in over 4 years and I hate going!

I'm reading more than knitting at the moment - though I did finish a pair of socks this week - picture to follow. I'm reading The Time Travellers Wife - not normally a romance girl but this I like.

Finally, a word to the wise - the more you push and nag me about something the more guaranteed you are that I will not do the thing you want me to - learn from this and stop bothering me!

The Big Knit In

We really enjoyed our day. It was great (even if the weather was a bit iffy) to sit and knit and be with other like mineded people. The boys decided to stay as some of J's home-ed friends were there - so he was able to charge around play Daleks. M seemed happy and enjoyed it immensely when a friend showed him how to spin on a wheel.

It was also great to see Faerynuff - (Ali) - she rocks!

As for me I was restrained and didn't buy any yarn (shock, horror!) - I thought I'd spent enough this week ;0)
