Skully

I fancied a new bag fit for Halloween and was too ill yesterday to go anywhere or do much. So here's Skully - a Friday project.

P.S - I still hate intarsia - bleh!

Stomp

Biff, bang, clatter, bash, boom, skitter, patter and kapow! Stomp are brilliant. I was enthralled by the whole thing. I loved the skill and humour used within the performance. Wow!!!!!!! I want to go and see them again. If you get the chance to go to one of their performances go - it is amazing.

Our teatime yesterday was a Stomp affair with the banging of cutlery against all sorts of things. Blowing across water bottles and then using empty plastic bottles as drums - lots of footstamping as well, noisey but great fun.

Stamp, thump, clash, bash, woohoo, tap and crash.

Ack!

My secret pal has rumbled who I am! I must have given it away - but how? I didn't mention spotty dogs, tarantulas or kites. Am I really so easy to guess? Obviously.

Warning. - mini rant alert.

People are never satisfied. It doesn't matter how hard you try, it never quite cuts it. I despair that I will ever win. Talk about a round (literally - haha) peg in a square hole.

Why is HEing such a bloomin headache sometimes? I socialize for J's sake as I'd hate him to feel isolated, but there are times when I wish to walk away from the whole thing. I know this is a life thing and if you meet 1 or 2 people along the way you actually like it's a bonus, and a couple of the HE families are more than fabulous - but, there is a but, it's never simple, happy, plain sailing, someone somewhere is dissatisfied or wants change (often, I think, for changes sake). J is such a happy chap and has made some excellent friends and if I'm honest if it wasn't for that I'd just walk away (actually I'd probably run). I'm sure others have moments like this, but this week it's coming to a head for me. Time maybe to step back, breathe and decide what's right for all of us as a family. This will be a hard call to make!

Ok - ranting over. I'm sure no-one reads this much - but apologies to those who do - just needed to verbalize what I was feeling.

I'm off now to drool some more over my latest batch of Hipknits silk.......................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm silk *slobber, drool*

Socks

After posting about 'never too many socks' I decided to see how many pairs I've made - 12 - with 2 more on the needles.

Bobs and bits.

So another week has just whizzed by - wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesqueakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkboooooooooooooom - look, quick - too late, missed it.

So what has been occurring dudes?

Well, there has been a lot of learning going on this week. From division and Venn diagrams to personal pronouns, a splash of history, a pinch of French and a dollop of Greek mythology - phew I haven't stopped. We have also baked and made a whole family of pompom spiders and a home for them. We have read, made comics and just had a super time all round.

As for me, personally. I've been a bit lack lustre but I finished another pair of socks (as Dumbledore states you can never have too many pairs of socks). I also decided to give ally pally a miss as my agoraphobia is pretty bad at the mo and I can't face the train. M offered to drive but Purley Way is such a nightmare - it's not that bigger a deal to miss it.

M got his new amp he's been waiting for since June and he is finally off call - so a musical, creative, relaxing family weekend is on the cards for us. Sounds good to me.

Mmmm not too sure about this.....

Handholder

You go out of your way to build bridges with people of different views and beliefs and have quite a few religious friends. You believe in the essential goodness of people , which means you’re always looking for common ground even if that entails compromises. You would defend Salman Rushdie’s right to criticise Islam but you’re sorry he attacked it so viciously, just as you feel uncomfortable with some of the more outspoken and unkind views of religion in the pages of this magazine.

You prefer the inclusive approach of writers like Zadie Smith or the radical Christian values of Edward Said. Don’t fall into the same trap as super–naïve Lib Dem MP Jenny Tonge who declared it was okay for clerics like Yusuf al–Qaradawi to justify their monstrous prejudices as a legitimate interpretation of the Koran: a perfect example of how the will to understand can mean the sacrifice of fundamental principles. Sometimes, you just have to hold out for what you know is right even if it hurts someone’s feelings.

National Poetry Day.

Thanks to Glittr for the reminder ;0D

Remember - Christina G. Rossetti

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

And for J,

The Ning Nang Noo by Spike Milligan

On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the cows go Bong!
And the Monkeys all say Boo!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go ping!
And the tea pots Jibber Jabber Joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang!
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So it's Ning Nang Nong!
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning!
Trees go ping!
Nong Ning Nang!
Mice go clang!
What a noisy place to belong,
Is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!!

This week I have been mostly....................

knitting socks (see below).

It's been a weird week. J has had a streaming cold so we've been indoors and at home more. It's been nice. We have done so much home baking, bread, two cakes, homemade soup and cornish pasties. I've so enjoyed having everything made from scratch - not just the eating but the process as well. J's been very creative, comic books abound - he's completed the series that he's been creating and today he's been using his car designer kit. He's been choosing to use English and math workbooks, reading loads and doing tonnes of French - for an ill kid he sure has been busy! We've also fitted in a couple a long walks when he's felt up to it - I think fresh air helps to clear a snuffly nose.

I finished this pair. I'm proud of them because I so enjoyed dying the wool. I've finally got the perfect fit for my little chubby feet and these are spot on. Posted by Picasa
